This textile collection is called ‘Authentic Expression’ and is by a designer called Sophie Amelia.
Sophie designs patterns and shapes which she then screen prints onto fabric. Once the fabric is ready it’s then made into products such as cushions and bags.
This collection of work is focussed on the experiences of women who are autistic and how
they engage with the world.
Sophie worked with neurodivergent women to learn about how their experiences.
From this, Sophie designed fabrics which were sensory and focussed on the touch and feel of the pattern. Sophie wants explore how textiles can help neurodivergent people be relaxed in their environment.
